The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, in association with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation will be conducting the Bahrain International Challenge 2010 Badminton tournament at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall from November 30 to December 4
The Bahrain International Challenge 2010 is a world-ranking tournament sanctioned by theBadminton World Federation and Badminton Asia Confederation.This tournament carries a total prize money of $15,000 and attracts top players from all over the world.
Though this is the fourth consecutive year that Bahrain will be conducting an international badminton tournament, this is the first time that Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam will be hosting this prestigious event. Many of the top 50 ranked players such as ShoSasaki (Japan), Andrew Smith (England), Meiliana Jauhari and Shendy Puspa Irawati(Indonesia), V. Diju, R.M.V Gurusaidutt, Trupti Murgunde (India) participated in the previous editions of this event. More than 100 players from 18 countries including Spain, France,Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, India,China and Japan participated in the 2007 edition of the event.
More than 150 players from all over the world are expected to participate in the tournament this year. An organising committee has been formed with Farook P.M. as Tournament Director and BKS Indoor Games Secretary, and Ashley George as General Convener of the event.
The inauguration of the tournament committee activities was held recently at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam with the unveiling of the logo for the event and the launch of the Sponsorship Appeal Form. The logo was unveiled by the Marketing Segment Manager of Batelco Ali Al Attar and the representative of the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation Jaffer Ebrahim in the presence of the BKS Acting President K. Saju Kumar, General Secretary N.K.Veeramany and Indoor Games Secretary Ashley George.
