fourth Syed Modi Monthly Badminton Tournament

SHINTO Thomas and Jobin John emerged champions of the green group in the fourth Syed Modi Monthly Badminton Tournament, organised by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam.

The competition was conducted in four categories, which included the green, red, yellow and blue groups.

In the green group final, Thomas and John defeated Thulasidharan Pillai and Rajesh AC 21-9, 17-21, 21-16 to claim their title. The losing semi-finalists in the category were the teams of Anoop P and Suraj G and Anilkumar OM and Vinuraj.

In the red group, Nahaz Ommer and Suneeth Sebastian claimed first place after beating Jayakumar P and Anto K 21-15, 21-18 in the final match.

The losing semi-finalists in the category were the duos of Anoop N and Salesh C and Unnikrishna Pillai and CM Junith.

The yellow group title was claimed by Asmar VP and Sandy Mathew, who cruised against Anuraj T and Abraham Varghese 21-12, 21-8 in the division final.

The losing semi-finalists in the category were Safeer and Shaju as well as Sudheer and Alex Arakal.

Finally, the blue group crown was claimed by the pairing of Anilkumar CG and John Mathew, as they overcame a tough challenge against John Paul and Nithin Sathyan to win 14-21, 21-19, 21-19.

The losing semi-finalists in the category were the teams of Ramachandran and Girish C Dev and Yunus N and Ramesh P Nair.

The one-day tournament was officiated by Indian national badminton team coach Nazer, who is currently conducting a coaching camp in the kingdom for BKS players.

The tournament was sponsored by Ahmed Zayani and Sons, the dealer of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Skoda in Bahrain.

The trophies for the winners and runners-up were handed out by chief guest and Batelco marketing segment manager Ali Al Attar, Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation representative Jaffer Ebrahim, BKS acting president K Sajukumar, and BKS general secretary NK Veeramani.

Also present were Ahmed Zayani sales executive Eldo Paulose and BKS indoor games secretary Ashley George.
