Unni-Junith pair claim crown

UNNI and Junith emerged victorious in the top group Flight I in the VII'th Syed Modi Monthly Badminton Tournament, organised for Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam members.

In the top group flight final Unni and Junith overcame the tandem of Jayakumar and Madhu 21-14, 24-22.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Unni and Junith defeated Jain and Nahas 21-15, 21-14 while Jayakumar and Madhu beat Simin and Anoop N 21-13, 21-16.

The tournament was conducted in four categories, based on the skill level of the players.

In other groups, the winners were Rajesh A C and Anoop in Flight II, following a 21-18, 21-10 victory against Shanto and Baiju.

Manoj and Asmar defeated the pair of Shanil and Ajith 21-14, 21-16 to clinch Flight III title, while Vinod and Rahul took victory in Flight IV beating Gilbert and Biju C Alex 21-14, 23-21.

BKS also conducted II'nd singles tournament for the members, while Jayakumar, Jaimy John, Manoj Sekhar and Vinod winning their respective flights.

The trophies for the winners and runners-up were presented by BKS general secretary Varghese Karakkal, Entertainment secretary Manoharan Pavaratty, Membership secretary Mohanaprasad, Literary wing secretary Binoj Mathew, International Tournament director Ashley Raju George and Indoor Games secretary Anil Kumar O M.
