BAHRAIN resident Philip Varghese has been given a fond farewell by colleagues and members of the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam before leaving the country today after 17 years.
The Super Trading and Contracting Company chief accountant, his wife Liji and children, Ashwin and Ashwell, will now settle down at Ochira, in Kollam district of Kerala.
Mr Varghese was active in social and cultural activities and had served on various committees at the Samajam, Kollam Jilla Pravasi Association, Bahrain India Educational and Cultural Forum and the Kayamkulam Association.
Ms Liji, who was a Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School teacher for more than nine years, was an active member of the Indian Embassy's consular extension service at the Samajam.
"We will miss this beautiful country that we have called home for so many years," said Mr Philip.
"We have made a lot of friends and will carry back with us very fond memories of our time here.
