Kerala's Education and Cultural Affairs Minister M.A. Baby will be the chief guest for the three-day function. The title for the festival Gotraayanam, suggested by Manu Kurambala, was selected from more than 50 entries. Binu Veliyil designed the winning logo. The festival, the first of its kind in Bahrain, is aimed at inculcating the elegance and uniqueness of the ancient art forms of Kerala, such as Padayani, Theyyam, Pulluvan Pattu, Kalamezhuthu, Nadanpattu among the younger generation. These art forms will be performed by 15 expert artistes from Kerala. Discussions regarding these art forms will also be organised during the three days.Pulluvan Pattu, Nadan Pattu and Kalamezhuthu are the ancient Dravidian forms of worshipping God. It is believed that Theyyam envisage the god’s visits to the common man to resolve his problems in day-to-day life.Padayani is believed to be part of the celebrations on the birthday of Bhadrakali, the powerful Hindu Goddess.Art lovers of Bahrain are invited for the festival, which promises to be an opportunity to witness these unique cultural art forms.
