Envoy launches Keralotsavam


The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) inaugurated BKS- Melam Keralotsavam 2010-11 and Spectra Calendar 2011 at their premises last night. More than 2,000 guests attended.Chief guest was Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar who inaugurated the event by hoisting the festival flag and lighting the traditional lamp. The celebrity guest was creative writer and versatile theatre and cine-artist, Madhupal. Mohammed Fakhro and Bros. General Manager Unni Nair was the guests of honour.ICRF Chairman John Iype handed over the first copy of the Spectra Calendar 2011 to Mr Kumar and the first copy of the table calendar was handed over to BKS President PV Radhakrishna Pillai by ICRF Vice Chairman and Spectra Coordinator Mathew Joseph.Keralotsavam is a socio-cultural and literary competition for BKS members and associate members.Under the patronage of the Indian Embassy and in association with BKS, , the ICRF organised an art competition for all the students of Bahrain and the winning entries have been featured in the Spectra Calendar. All proceeds from the calendar will be transferred to the ICRF, to be used for the benefit of the Indian community, especially the low-income group.Mr Kumar congratulated Mr Pillai for reviving Keralotsavam after a gap of five years. He added that such festivals would help the participants to develop a well-rounded personality . He also lauded the ICRF team for its efforts in implementing various schemes like the group insurance policy for the betterment of the Indians in Bahrain.
