INDIA'S Overseas Indian Affairs and Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi arrives on a two-day visit to Bahrain today.
Mr Ravi will meet Bahrain officials and leading community members.
He will be honoured at a reception at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS). The event, to be held today at 7pm at the BKS in Segaiya, will also feature a cultural programme.
"Mr Ravi's most recent initiative has been to resume direct flights from Bahrain to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, which had been discontinued a few years ago," said BKS general secretary Varghese Karrakal.
He said that Mr Ravi had also been instrumental in labour agreements between India and Bahrain.
Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar will attended the event, where leading Bahrain businessman Dr Ravi Pillai will be guest of honour.
The reception ceremony will be followed by a cultural programme, featuring singers Anuradha Sreeram, Biju Narayanan and Meghna from India as well as a comedy show by Ramesh Pisharadi and Prathijnan.
