Grand Onam feast at BKS

Celebrity chef from Kerala Pazhayidam Mohanan Namboodiri has arrived in Bahrain to give Malayalees a true taste of Onam.
Mr Namboodiri and his team will prepare an array of delicacies for the Onam feast at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) on September 16.
"Celebrity chef Pazhayidam Mohanan Namboodiri and his team will give our members a chance to reminisce the taste of traditional Onam feast dishes," said BKS President P. V. Radhakrishna Pillai.
Speaking to media, Mr Pillai said the feast - Onasadya 2011 – will be held at the BKS premises in Segaya on Friday, September 16, to mark the culmination of this year’s Onam celebrations.
“The special attraction will be the four different types of puddings (payasam),” said Mr Pillai. “In an attempt to make the celebration more interesting, a contest has been organised. Anyone who guesses the ingredients used in some of the dishes – prepared specially for the feast – will win rewards. The prize will be given by the chef himself."
“Every Keralite relishes the traditional dishes of Onam. It makes some nostalgic, while for others it is a memorable treat for the palette.
“This year BKS had a traditional ten-day Onam celebration and we wanted to replicate the same with the feast as well,” he added.
Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar will be the Chief Guest and Padmashri Dr Ravi Pillai will be the Guest of Honour during the occasion. The feast will commence at 11.30am. Seat numbers and timings have been allotted to members and guests to avoid rush and long queues.
Officials requested that invitees be present at the premises 15 minutes before the allotted time. The timings are 11.30am, 12.45 pm, 1.30 pm and 2.15 pm.
