BKS to host badminton umpiring course

THE Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF), in association with the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), will conduct an umpiring course at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall starting on Friday.
The four-day course will begin at 9.30am with two sessions on the first day. On other days, there will be one session starting at 7pm. The course is sanctioned by Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) and will be conducted by the confederation's accredited referee Sudhakar Vemuri from India.
Vemuri has officiated in many BAC International tournaments as referee, including the Bahrain International Challenge held at the BKS premises last December.
He has also officiated as co-assessor for the BAC Certificated umpires at the Badminton Asia Championships held at Chengdu in April and also as the deputy referee of the recently concluded India Open Super Series held at New Delhi.
The course will conclude on Monday with a written and practical test. All the participants, who are assessed to have passed the test, will be certified by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation as national umpires.
