The preparations are underway for the first ever BKS- DC Books International Book Fair. This unique fiesta will be novel experience for the literature lovers in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
M/s DC Books; the pioneer publishers in India, in their endeavor to expand the horizons of their regular book festivals that are convened in India for many past years, has this year decided to associate with
Bahrain keraleeya Samajm for convening the first ever book festival in the Middle East. In addition to the 25000 books published by them, DC Books will exhibit the 1000s of books published by well known and established publishers Current Books, Manorama, Mathrubhumi, Olive, CICC, H & C, Sangeerthanam etc.. The added attractions from the significant presence of books from international publishers namely Penguin Books, Harper Collins, Westland Books, Hachette India, Simon & Schuster India, Oxford , Cambridge University presses etc. will provide a rare opportunity to the book lovers in Bahrain, the expatriates community in particular. “This unique festival is a much enriched version of the renowned Sharja book festival and the BKS is proud to present this literary extravaganza as its prestige event for the year 2014. The festival will be inaugurated on 1 March 2014, by internationally renowned Indian writer Ms.Jayasree Misra, said the Samajam Secretary Mr. Prince Natarajan in a press release. “We are overwhelmed by the positive responses that we receive from the lovers of literature and it is our earnest endeavor to organize this festival as an annual event in the Samajam Calender. The BKS - DC Book Festival includes daily seminars, interactive sessions and literature workshops with renowned writers namely Mr. Sachidanandan, N.S. Madhavan, T.D. Ramakrishnan, C.V. Balakrishnan and our own Benyamin” Said the BKS President Mr. K Janardhanan. Literature is the prime modes of transferring culture, heritage, knowledge and skills to the younger generation. Accordingly, it is the BKS obligation to ensure the children and younger generation in Bahrain is optimizing the facilities offered in the week long book fiesta. For ensuring the same, we have organized many competitions, such as the Pen a story, Colouring and Painting, Poem writing ,Book cover Design etc for the school children in Bahrain. The competitions shall be held for various age groups based on the criteria published in Samajam notice board. Puppet show competition and the story writing workshops for the children will be added attractions. We have decided to restrict the number of entries for the competitions for logistic constraints and for emphasizing on the book fiesta. Attractive prices for the competitions, sponsored by DC Books are offered and we urge the kids to enroll to be listed as early birds” said BKS Literary wing secretary Mr. Saji Markose.
